Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

I come here for the classics. I've only been here a few times and overall it's been good. Not great though, the other menu they don't offer right away and the waitstaff is not as helpful as is like. Pros 1.Once you know they have two menus your options for great food a greatly increased 2. The prices are reasonable 3. It's close to my home, clean atmosphere, and a lot of Asian ppl actually eat here :) (great sign that the food is good) Cons They may not tell you about the Chinese menu, waitstaff seems to have little experience, and decor could be better(may have been under construction) at the time

Gross. Gfs Chinese food...I can get better going to the frozen section at the grocery store.

This is likely the worst Chinese restaurant I have been to. It was clear they were eager to lock the doors for the night. Tables are clean and neat. Steamed chicken dumplings were dough bombs and served cold. The wonton soup was very greasy - barely ate iit. The chicken chop suey was tasteless with a large serving of bean sprouts and a few veggies and fewer pieces of chicken. The only good thing was the low sodium soy sauce which was essential to adding any flavor. They do offer brown rice. I gave it one star to acknowledge they exist. LaCHOY frozen foods is superb compared to this place.

WARNING! RESTAURANT OVER CHARGES!!! I love love love their food here. It is 100% authentic, their Ma Po Tofu is amazing and they have a massive Chinese menu. Almost every meal has been delicious, though their lo mein noodles are too thin for my taste and their orange beef is over cooked. But I've had so many great meals there it honestly balances out. BUT. Every single time I carry out. EVERY time they over charge by $2 or $3. It makes me suspicious of when I eat in as well, but I never checked at those times. They are nice enough to adjust the price once I point out the error, but when their entrees are already $12 I don't want to be charged another $3 for no reason. Honestly I would forgive once or even twice, but I go to this place once or twice a month and the totals are consistently wrong. This is why I am giving 2 stars instead of 4. The food is a top 4 star, but I would like be able to trust my bill when I am paying and not have to recalculate the math.

After years of "Middle Kingdom" in Ann Arbor, Johnny's now running this show. Yummy sweet Chinese sausage. Spicy whole tilapia. These mushrooms that I can't describe but also can't stop thinking about. Check it out if you're in the area.

its an amazing Chinese restaurant, the food is very good. This is real Chinese food, for those who are really knowing Chinese food people, it's the best choice in Michigan.

Food was okay here. The bad thing about this place was there owners. The one taking order was very very rude and in a hurry even though they had only 2 tables filled in. All of them spoke broken english. 2nd it's really expensive for the amount of food we get. 15$ for a normal chicken dish...that too without soup, so stupid. That's straight overcharging.

I doubt I will ever attempt a second Taste of China, I wish I could give this 1-1/2 stars. However disappointing the experience dining here, I still can't give it only 1 star as it was still better than an "eek". I will reserve "eek" ratings for food or ambience that I fear might actually make me ill. To be specific re. Taste of China, despite a very spacious dining room, a very pleasant ambience, an interesting menu, and generous portions, the food itself left much to be desired. Our spring rolls, my chicken, my wife's udon, and the kids' lo mein were all bland and uninteresting. The mediocre fare aside, the service was abysmal. I understand it's a busy night for Chinese restaurants and the place was certainly packed, but I had to wait a full 15 minutes after my wife and kids were served their entrees until I was unapologetically served mine. A few more data points: - I ordered lemonade for the kids and they were served what was quite clearly plain water with a wedge of lemon. When the check came, I was charged $5.00 for two cokes! (?) - As I mentioned, the portions were generous and we don't waste food. I had to ask our server for a box when she delivered the bill, when she brought back the correction or the cokes, when she took my credit card, and a fourth time when she brought the receipt to sign before I got the darned box. I could go on kvetching. Suffice it to say that I almost never leave less than a 20% gratuity. I haven't tipped 15% in many years. I toyed with leaving a 10% tip, but ended up leaving 12% tip this go-around, purely out of sympathy for those who have to make a living on waitstaff wages. If the fare was worth it, I would put up with this kind of service. However, again flavors were about as uninspiring as could be. So, I feel no need to ever try again.

It's been said that the best metric for a good Chinese restaurant is the number of Chinese people dining inside. Taste of China, however, is an aberration from the norm. Every single time I've been there, it's been scarcely populated by Chinese people (at least for the time being - perhaps it'll just take longer for them to be lured away from older restaurants). Nevertheless the quality of the food is still excellent. Some of my favorites so far as the he fen noodles and the Hainan chicken. The menu is giant, and it's a great addition to the roster of Chinese restaurants in the Detroit area. Just one thing to be aware of - Taste of China has two menus, a Chinese menu with traditional fare and a non-Chinese menu with more Americanized food. Pricing is midrange, at about $15 per entree.

The food was great and diverse in selection. They even had roasted duck which was superb. A lot of different fresh seafood combo's were available as well as traditional Chinese fare. The egg rolls were fresh and grease free. I love this place.

I just came in today with my stepdad at around 3:30. After reading the magazine, I thought this one could be the second place that I should drag my mom to come to! Nice atmosphere, have a conference room, can serve MANY people at the same time, elegant restroom. The waitresses can't really understand what you say if you try to ask something more in your dish (extra shrimp or tofu,..). I asked for Chinese menu, the girl said ok ok, and I never had a chance to see that. She didnt understand I think. As soon as I tried Wonton soup after bringing out, I know Im going to come back here. It's probably just me, but the taste of wonton soup is not how it's supposed to be. The sesame chicken is kinda sweet, if I don't want to say it gets sweeter and sweeter when you eat keeping it, the sauce tastes like the sweet in 'sweet an sour sauce'. My stepdad ordered a seafood dish with shrimp, scallop and broccoli. I had a bite of the broccoli, and I don't really like that either. How can I say this? I used to eat Chinese like original ones back in my country (I'm from Vietnam, and we live nearby china). Probably this one will be more delicious with American (for American menu), and for Chinese (in Chinese menu, I believe the taste will be different as well as the variety of the food). But not for me, unless I learn some more Chinese so I can ask for Chinese menu.

I was impressed. I came in only having less than 40 minutes for lunch, I told them, they took my order right away and everything came out super fast. It all tasted fresh (lovely carrot slivers in the soup) and was piping hot. I had only soup and apps but it was good and flavorful. The staff was attentive. I'll be back for sure, I had just enough to pique my interests. Update: We went here for dinner on Saturday night. My companion had the Almond Boneless Chicken and I had Moo Shu Chicken. We were very pleased. He described his as "the best I've ever had" and mine was absolutely delicious. Again, everything tasted so fresh and it wasn't swimming in sauce or oil. It tasted homemade, which is to say that whoever is in that kitchen cares about what comes out. This our new favorite and although we'll have to travel a bit further than we're used to and pay a tad more, we've decided it's worth the extra. My only issue is that the wontons in the soup weren't as good as they were the first time, but that was a minor issue.

great authentic Chinese food! love the large Sichuan cuisine selection. friendly waitresses, i will definitely come back. Update: chef has been changed. Had a three star experience so came down to 4 star.

Better than other Chinese restaurants in the area (or at least all the ones we've tried) - first one we found that we want to come back to. Some dishes are just okay, need more flavoring, as we had two of the chicken dishes and found them to be somewhat bland. The hot and sour soup is really good though, as are any the of mooshu dishes. Food also seem fresher and not overly greasy. Waiters are friendly and attentive.

I heard this place had a Chinese menu so thought we would try it. Usually when I want some authentic Chinese food, I go to either Shangri-La (West Bloomfield) or Golden Harvest (Warren). We wanted to try something new. We were greeted immediately by a man that seems to be the owner. He spoke English well and gave us the Chinese menu only (probably because we're both Asian and my husband looks Chinese). We asked for the American-Chinese menu as well, but didn't end up ordering from it. So we ordered a few usual dishes that we would at the other two Chinese restaurants we enjoy and along with two new ones. Baked Spicy Salted Seafood, Chinese broccoli with garlic sauce, Yang Chow Fried Rice; Chinese, Tofu, & veggie with black bean sauce dish, and an appetizer of rabbit with like a spicier Kung Pao sauce. First, let's talk about the dishes I'm familiar with. The baked spicy salted seafood was bland and lacked texture. This dish is one of my favorite Chinese items from the other two restaurants. I know this dish said baked, but that doesn't make it can't be crispier than it should be. Even if it was a little soft, it lacked flavor; it wasn't really that seasoned. The yang chow fried rice was okay. I ate mostly that because it tasted good, but veggies were over cooked. It wasn't great, but good enough. The Chinese broccoli with garlic sauce was the only dish that stood out to my husband and I. The vegetable was cooked perfectly. As the Italians would call it...it was al dente. Not to soft and not to hard. It had the perfect bite to it. The sauce was garlicky and very flavorful. Better than Shangri-la and Golden Harvest. Okay, the two dishes we tried out. The rabbit was tough. It both of our first time having rabbit, unless our parents fed it to us without telling us what it is. Lol. The meat was very lean. Tasted like a mix of lean pork and chicken breast. The sauce was VERY greasy because of the excessive amount of chili oil. Maybe it's suppose to be that way? Luckily that dish was an appetizer. Wasn't that great. Though my husband liked the peanuts in it. The chicken, tofu and veggies with a black bean sauce was awful. It tasted like old bean curd with a hint of black bean sauce. There were barely any vegetables in there, mostly chicken and tofu. The dish would have been better if the tofu was fresh, more veggies, and the sauce had more black bean in it. We took our leftovers to our siblings and in-laws. Everyone liked the Chinese broccoli and nothing else. We are pretty picky with Chinese food because we've had it so much from the other two Chinese restaurants that also have Chinese menus. My husband agrees with me that this place is good, but we can go to Shangri-la instead, which isn't that far from this one. And prices are pretty much the same. I would go there again only to try the American-Chinese menu. I noticed there were more non-Asian people there besides the workers. I'm still in search of an American-Chinese place. The pros though: the place was clean, spacious, and the staff was nice, especially the owner.

their menu is limited compared to most. was looking for a vegetarian dish with garlic ginger sauce. only thing was Asian eggplant. i ask that they replace the eggplant with broccoli. what came out was buttered broccoli; no garlic ginger sauce. thats a lot of money for buttered broccoli. that alone would make me not return. yes, most clientele were chinese, but if you are serving the american public, make the waiters know english. and it did seem it was the owner that took our order. hubby got general tsu's chicken. looked and tasted fairly normal, but the chicken pieces were quite large. thus less crispy outside edges to coat in sauce. he said it was dry, i ate his broccoli and sauce, which is all i wanted to begin with. egg drop soup good. wish they would have offered duck sauce to go with the non-house fried crispy noodles. get a almond cookie and a fortune cookie at end. as stated we would not bother to go back.

I've been here a few times, both dine-in and take-out. Nothing to wow at, but its good food at a good price and there is always enough for dinner and lunch the next day.

Went to lunch with a party of 9 in which 1 was late. They seated us immediately at 1 table with ample room for all. We immediately received menus and water. After ordering, our 1 late arrival arrived. His order was immediately taken. Minutes later we all had our soup. The wonton and egg drop soup were both outstanding! Then the food arrived and all our orders were provided, even the order for the late arrival. The food portions are great and each dish was tasty. Nearly everyone had food to take home and we finished and arrived back to work well within the lunch hour. We'll be back! Bravo!

Fresh and authentic. Fantastically flavorful. Best in the state. All homemade sauces and dishes. Your traditional favorites and a bunch of harder to find gems. Ask for the longer green menu w/classic Chinese cuisine. Tons of variety and flavor in vegetable dishes. Don't miss the tofu w/eggplant, Szechwan string beans, moo shu anything, hot'n'sour soup, homemade egg rolls and gyoza. Worth the drive from anywhere...finally great Chinese in D-town! Side notes: spacious dining room with beautiful bar, very clean, newly renovated. Owner is from Ann Arbor and dedicated to this new restaurant that we've all been asking for. Give it a try- you'll return, I promise.
